Today is the next monster in the game Monster Hunter Wilds. This time we’re going to fight a monster that looks like a huge spider. This is Lala Barina. Today we will talk about what to expect from this giant and how to deal with it. Before that, we took a detailed look at Quematrice.
You’ll meet the monster in the second location, just a few hours into the game. That’s why it’s important to be well prepared for the battle. You should already know how to use health jars, craft and eat food. Additional buffs that enhance your character will also be useful. But this is not so important. Let’s see what we know about this monster.
Lala Barina Ecology and Appearance
Lala Barina is a large temnoceran with a unique appearance. Its six legs are jointed and are covered in sharp-looking spikes. Its thorax and abdomen are instead coated in fluffy hairs. Its abdomen culminates in a retractable stinger, which it can use to sting enemies. The frontmost pair of legs is normally tucked within its body, but can also open up to reveal appendages that resemble clawed hands. Its head is small, with two large, orange eyes and a pair of chelicerae. Its most distinguishing feature, however, is the fact that, when enraged, part of its abdomen opens to reveal a tuft of red hairs shaped like a rose bloom.
Lala Barina can spin a scarlet, glowing silk from their mouths, which they can use for attacking and binding prey or locomotion. They also use it to construct massive scarlet colored nests within the Scarlet Forest. Around these nests can be found “florets” of silk, which indicate its presence. In battle it uses its claws, spiked legs, stinger and mandibles to stab and slash opponents with, it can also shoot flower-like urticating hairs from its abdomen at its foes.

Lala Barina Weakness and Elemental Damage
Lala Barina plays a major role in the storyline of Monster Hunter Wilds. It is therefore likely that its encounter will match your Hunter Rank in the moment. The hunt was completed by me using gear that I considered to be weak. You can target an elemental weak point if you use a weapon that has Fire as the main element. It’s not worth it to go through the trouble of grinding materials just to create a weapon for this battle.
As one of the first monsters in the game, Lala Barina’s elemental resistances are fairly straightforward. Lala Barina’s recommended elemental attack is Fire, which encompasses Flaming Ammo, Torch Pod, as well as skills like Fire Attack, Critical Element, and Charge Master — in addition to your own weapon’s properties.
Lala Barina Fight Preparation Tips
You’ll enter the fight after the cutscene, as the encounter is part of a mission. When you are asked whether you’re prepared to leave, always make sure you have both regular and mega potions on you. You can also loot honey from the area if you are short of the mega potions.
You can also use your portable barbecue to cook a meal. You can boost your stamina and health by using ingredients such as Wild Herb. Torch pods are useful for later encounters. If you have or one of your team members has a weapon that fires Flaming Ammo it is even more beneficial. Overall, Lala Barina is not the most dangerous of monsters. It is important to avoid its deadly paralyzing attacks, and the tail stings.

Lala Barina Behavior and Attack Patterns
Lala Barina is a monster hunter that has a different behavior. Her moveset and her way of acting are completely unique. It’s how Lala Barina prepares for an attack. She usually does one or two moves almost rhythmically. It is also very helpful in memorizing.
Start with the close-quarters moves. When you are facing Lala Barina directly, she will probably try to use her front legs to strike you either from above or on the side. (This is indicated by raising one arm and opening its claws). The monster will likely use the legs of its front to attack you from the side (by moving one arm to the side and opening the claws) or above.
The spider will also close its claws and rush towards you when you have gained some distance. This happens usually after Lala barina has jumped away. She tends to do this in pairs. Some jumps are short and only used to reposition itself.
Lala Barina Paralysis and Enraged State
With a little practice, you can manage all of these things. It’s when Lala Barina opens her thorax, like a flower blooming. This is the equivalent of being angry. The monster may do any of the following during the state:
The claws of this creature grow, increasing the damage and range that can be done by the above moves. The wolf can also perform some new attacks. For example, it will leap forward by lifting both arms and standing up on its two legs. The attack is easy to spot but fast.
It is the “flower” that can cause paralysis when touched. Lala Barina has also a pointed tail that it uses to sting people – often in two jabs. It can hang upside-down using its webs, especially when fighting in its nest. Then it spins around and releases a lot of spores.
In general, you need to be attentive throughout the battle. The monster makes its attacks quite often. And some of them not only take away your health, but paralyze your character for a while. This is a really unpleasant thing. When you get paralyzed, your character falls to the ground and can’t do anything. To get out of this state as quickly as possible, you need to try to make movements forward, backward, and sideways.
Just press the buttons randomly, trying to move your character. After a while, the hunter will regain consciousness and be able to continue the battle. I think this is enough to defeat Lala Barina. If you can’t do it in the allotted time, practice your hunter’s skills and make the best armor you can with all the tips I gave you.
