The fastest way to defeat Antumbra’s Staff in Crimson Desert is to master one ability: Force Palm at level 3. Parry his basic attacks, interrupt his red attacks with Force Palm, fill the yellow gauge three times, and the fight is yours. That’s the core of it. Everything else, your stats, gear, and food, supports this loop.
Where You Fight the Antumbra’s Staff Boss in Crimson Desert
You’ll encounter Antumbra’s Staff inside the Sanctum of Solace. You’re there as part of Bari’s quest to clear the sanctums, and this boss is one of the tougher challenges along that quest line. If you’ve already beaten Antumbra’s Sword, you’ll recognize the overall pattern. The tactics are similar, with one important difference: you need to watch Antumbra’s Staff much more closely. His attacks shift faster, and the moment you lose track of what he’s doing, the fight gets significantly harder.
Best Build for the Antumbra’s Staff Boss Fight: Spirit Stat and Force Palm
The most important stat for this fight is Spirit. You need at least 5 Spirit points before entering this arena. If you’re short, prepare food that restores both Health and Spirit at the same time. Braised Ribs are the right choice here, and I’d strongly recommend having them ready before the fight starts, because you’ll be burning through Spirit quickly.
For abilities, you need Force Palm leveled up to level 3. That’s what unlocks the Expertise ability, which lets you perform three consecutive strikes by pressing R. You’ll also want Keen Senses at level 1 at minimum. That ability activates Focus Mode, which slows the boss down noticeably and gives you the reaction time you need to read his attacks properly.
When it comes to weapons, I use two one-handed swords and no shield. A shield isn’t necessary here. The extra damage from dual swords is more useful than the defensive option. If your weapon is upgraded to a high level, so much the better, but gear isn’t the deciding factor. Spirit management is.

How to Beat Antumbra’s Staff by Reading Attacks and Parrying
Before anything else, switch into Focus Mode. It slows Antumbra’s Staff down enough that you can actually see what he’s about to do. Watch him carefully.
When he comes at you with a basic attack, hold LB to parry it. The moment the parry connects, immediately follow up with a triple Force Palm strike using your Expertise ability. That sequence, parry then triple Force Palm, is your main combo and the foundation of this entire fight.
Now here’s where it gets tricky. After your triple Force Palm, there’s a brief window where the boss recovers. Watch his movements carefully during this recovery phase. If he starts a red-highlighted attack, you need to land another Force Palm strike right away. If you time it correctly, that Force Palm interrupts the red attack entirely. The boss forgets about it, returns to his regular attack pattern, and you’re back in control. If you miss that window, the red attack connects and it hurts.
How to Fill the Yellow Gauge and Stun Antumbra’s Staff Boss
Underneath Antumbra’s Staff’s health bar, you’ll see a yellow gauge. Filling that gauge with Force Palm strikes is the whole point of the fight. Every triple Force Palm adds to it, and when it maxes out, the boss is stunned briefly. That’s your window to switch to your strongest attacks and deal real damage to his health bar.
With a maxed-out weapon, I defeated Antumbra’s Staff in three full fills of the yellow gauge. The third fill came down to the wire. I was one critical hit short, and I ended up using Force Palm to close out the fight, which deals damage to the health bar as well as filling the gauge. So don’t stop pressing, even when victory feels close.
The cycle looks like this: parry, triple Force Palm, interrupt red attacks with Force Palm, recover your Spirit fast, and repeat. Braised Ribs are there for the moments when your Spirit runs low and you can’t afford to wait for natural regeneration. Don’t forget this.

Final Tips for the Antumbra’s Staff Boss Fight in Crimson Desert
This fight requires practice. The timing on the parry and the Force Palm interrupt won’t click on the first attempt, and the fight can feel frustrating when the sequence breaks down. That’s normal. The tactics work, and once the timing is yours, the fight becomes manageable. Keep your food stocked, stay in Focus Mode, and don’t chase the boss when you’re low on Spirit.
One last thing: this exact approach, with minor adjustments, is also how I beat Antumbra’s Sword. If you haven’t tackled that fight yet, the experience from this one carries over directly. We’ve covered the Antumbra’s Sword boss fight in a separate guide if you want to compare the two strategies.
