This fight isn’t tied to a mission marker the way his first appearance is. The first time you meet Enenra, it’s through the Yokai Horde Picture Scroll myth up at Rojomon castle, a hidden encounter you only reach by finding a scroll and stepping through it into another dimension. The second time is different. Enenra shows up as a Formidable Enemy roaming the open world in Bakumatsu, specifically around the Shijo area.

From the Karasuma Shichijo shrine, turn left and head down the path, then keep going until you cross a bridge that looks almost like the back of an upside-down centipede. Past that, you’ll reach a wider open area with a small tornado spinning in the middle of it. That tornado is Enenra. Walk up to it and he’ll tear himself out of the wind to start the fight. Best Build to Beat Enenra Second Time: Ninja Tools and the Iga Set

For this fight I ran the Thundering Calamity skill alongside fire shurikens and regular kunai. It’s not the flashiest loadout in the game, but combined with magic it’s more than enough to take Enenra down. I always fight from range with the Head of the Iga Ninja set, since nearly every boss fight I do leans on Ninja Tools rather than melee weapons, and this set rewards that playstyle better than anything else available. It boosts the damage your tools deal, raises the odds of a Ninja Tool recharging on a perfect dodge, and occasionally lets you use a tool without consuming it at all.

For a fight built entirely around throwing things at a slow-moving target, that’s close to ideal. Enenra hits hard on paper, with fire punches, ground slams, and tornadoes that all sound intimidating written out. In practice, almost all of it targets the ground right around him, so keeping your distance solves most of the fight on its own. When he winds up into his burst attack and rushes forward as a fiery tornado, that’s your cue to either sidestep clean or interrupt it, since it moves slower than it looks. I lean on the Evade skill throughout the fight, which replenishes Ninja Tools every time I dodge, and whenever I run dry I switch straight into magic instead of waiting around.

Demon of Envy is my go-to here, paired with wind and water shots fired whenever Enenra gives me an opening. There’s a real mechanical reason water magic works so well here. Enenra is weak to the Saturated status effect, which builds up as you land Water damage on him, and once he’s Saturated he takes noticeably more damage to both health and Ki. In his first encounter you can even lure him under a support column and knock water down onto his head to trigger this, but out in the open world during this second fight there’s no column to break, so your water shots and water-infused magic are doing that job instead. That’s exactly why I keep firing wind and water casts between tool cooldowns rather than saving them, since every one that lands is chipping away at more than just his raw health bar.

Dark Realm Phase Doesn’t Change Much When You Beat Enenra a Second Time

Somewhere around half his health, Enenra triggers an uproar and the arena shifts into the Dark Realm, turning everything monochrome while his attacks speed up and your Ki recovery drops. Don’t worry, this doesn’t mean you need a new plan. You can still fire Ninja Tools and cast magic from range exactly like before, you just need to pay a little closer attention to his timing since the punish window for a bad dodge gets smaller.

Finishing the Fight: Summon Minions and Enenra Boss Rewards

Once I burn through my main magic rotation, I switch to my second skill tab, where I keep Summon Minions and Demon of Obsession saved, though I never actually needed the second one in this fight. I call in my minions one at a time to chip away at whatever health Enenra has left, then finish him off myself once the bar is low enough. Beating Enenra this second time also drops the Enenra Soul Core, which boosts Fire damage and, through its Fire Familiar effect, coats your melee attacks in fire for 30 seconds, letting weapons like Kusarigama and Tonfa stack Burn fast if you ever switch off Ninja Tools.
