The One-Armed Ludvig fight in Crimson Desert forces you to play exclusively as Oongka, and once you know what to set up beforehand it’s actually one of the smoother boss encounters in the game. The key is transferring Kliff’s skills to Oongka before you step into the arena, because without that preparation you’re leaving most of her combat potential behind.
One-Armed Ludvig in Crimson Desert: What to Expect from the Oongka Fight
First, a quick thing worth knowing: One-Armed Ludvig drops no loot after the fight. This is a purely story-driven encounter with no material rewards waiting for you on the other side. So don’t go in expecting crafting materials or gear. The fight exists to move the story forward, and your only objective is getting through it cleanly. You’ll be locked into playing as Oongka for the entire duration, which is why what you do in the preparation phase matters so much.
If you haven’t yet tackled Ludvig’s main encounter, it’s worth reading our phase-by-phase Ludvig boss fight guide first, since you’ll recognise several of his attack patterns here and knowing them in advance helps a lot.
How to Prepare Oongka Before the One-Armed Ludvig Boss Fight
The single most important thing you can do before this fight is transfer Kliff’s skills to Oongka. This is the tip that isn’t obvious the first time, and it’s the reason the fight can feel brutally hard for some players and completely manageable for others. Once you’ve transferred those skills, Oongka hits significantly harder and has far more options in combat. Head into the skills menu before you enter the arena and make the transfer. Don’t skip this step.
I also recommend bringing food into the fight with you. It doesn’t take long to prepare and it gives you a solid safety net if the encounter runs longer than expected. A few Grilled Meats in your inventory means you’re not one bad dodge away from a restart.
Best Skills to Give Oongka for the Ludvig Fight
You can transfer whichever skills you prefer, but the setup I went with was Armed Combat, Quaking Fury, Keen Senses, Focus, and Scatter Shot. Armed Combat and Quaking Fury are your core damage tools and they land hard on Ludvig from the first hit. Keen Senses helps you read his attack patterns without guessing. Scatter Shot gives you a ranged option when you need to create space. Focus is the one I saved for the end of the fight, and I’ll explain exactly how to use it in a moment. You can choose any combination you’re comfortable with and still get through this fight well, but this is what worked best for me.

Oongka Weapon and Artifact Setup for One-Armed Ludvig
For the weapon, I switched out Oongka’s default axe before entering and equipped Abyss Cores. This isn’t strictly necessary to win the fight, but the Abyss Cores add a meaningful boost to damage and trigger some genuinely impressive attack animations you’ll want to see in action. You’ll notice the difference immediately when Oongka starts landing those hits on Ludvig’s yellow health bar.
I also re-slotted Oongka’s artifacts into Stamina, Health, and Spirit before stepping in. Stamina keeps your dodge and attack options open longer without running dry mid-combo. Health gives you more room for the occasional hit you don’t dodge in time. Spirit feeds back into your skill usage so you’re not waiting between big moves. Set these up before the fight and you’ll go in with a noticeably stronger foundation.
How to Fight One-Armed Ludvig with Oongka: Attack Patterns and Openings
Once you’re inside the arena, the approach is aggressive sustained pressure combined with patient parry timing. With Kliff’s skills transferred and the artifacts in place, Oongka hits hard from the very start of the fight and Ludvig’s yellow health bar drops steadily without much back-and-forth. You’re not grinding through this one.
The key read during the fight is watching for blue light that surges along Ludvig’s blade. When you see that, that is your parry window. Time a parry at that moment and you’ll trigger a stagger that opens up a full burst of follow-up hits. Stay patient and wait for the blue light rather than trying to parry everything.
The one move you absolutely cannot parry is Ludvig’s lightning sword summon. When he flashes red and summons the giant lightning sword, roll away immediately and don’t try to contest it. Three wide sweeping slashes follow, and dodging in the opposite direction of each swing is the cleanest way to stay clear of them. Once the sequence ends, you’re back to pressing your advantage with Oongka’s full combo toolkit.
One-Armed Ludvig Cheese Finish: How to End the Fight Without Taking Damage
For the final phase of the fight I switch into Focus mode. Focus sharpens Oongka’s timing and sets up a clean parry on Ludvig’s closing attack. Once you land that parry, chain your strongest follow-up and you can end the entire fight without taking a single hit in the closing moments. It’s clean, satisfying, and completely reliable once you’ve got the parry timing down.
The whole fight changes when you walk in prepared. Transfer Kliff’s skills, slot Stamina and Health into your artifacts, bring food, and remember to activate Focus at the end. Oongka is more than capable of handling this fight with ease. You just need to give her the right tools before you start.
