Unholy Descent is the fourteenth chapter in Ninja Gaiden 4. It is the shortest and easiest chapter imaginable. Usually, the first chapters in games are the easiest, but here it’s different. Although there is some sense in this. This is the first chapter in this game where you play as Ryu Hayabusa.  The previous chapter of Clash of Convictions was very interesting and intense, so let’s move on to the review of episode 14 of this game.

Ryu Hayabusa against Achilles

After Yakumo defeated Achilles, the plot of the game went back a few years. And that’s why this is the first time you get to control this legend from the previous series of the game. Of course, you’re already used to Yakumo’s play style, and you need some practice before you can destroy all the enemies around you. That’s what this chapter is for. In this chapter, you only need to defeat one boss you already know, and that boss is Achilles again. But don’t be afraid. The developers decided that Ryu Hayabusa would not have a health bar in this chapter. Yes, you heard right. Your character is invulnerable to any attack.

This is the perfect time to remind yourself of Ryu Hayabusa’s playing style. You should get used to the mechanics, which are different from the Yakumo game. Therefore, in this battle with Achilles, your task is not to defeat the boss as quickly as possible, but on the contrary, to prolong the battle as long as possible in order to get plenty of practice. Just use the boss Achilles as a dummy for your training.

There is one important note: when you start playing as Ryu Hayabusa, your NinjaCoin balance will be reset to zero. Considering that you don’t need trinkets for attack and defense in this battle, I recommend wearing Fortune Omamori and Cultivation Omamori so that you can start accumulating game resources at an increased rate from the very first battle.

Differences and features of Ryu Hayabusa

Ryu is different from Yakumo in four main ways:

The Ki Gauge replaces Bloodbind gauge. It builds similarly but powers different moves.

Ninpo replaces weapon selection Four different spells are available that require Ki to be cast.

Art of the Inferno Fireballs that fly forward towards enemies.

Art of the Piercing Void: Fires a ball-shaped void energy at enemies.

Art of the Wind Blades Summon several blades to circle around you.

Art of the Flame Phoenix Summons 4 phoenixes to fly around you.

The Gleam Form replaces the Boodraven Form. This form is similar, but it focuses on multiple-hit combos rather than large, explosive attacks.

True Dragon Sword is the new Berserk Mode. By activating this mode, you can perform True Obliterations when you hit an opponent with certain Gleam Form attacks.

After completing the training, you can defeat Achilles and proceed to the next chapter.
