Talk to the crouched man in Hachijo. He will tell you about a box that was stolen by a fighter. The myth begins when he mentions that the box is located in a house west of you. This is an exciting quest where you have to defeat two opponents one after the other. The first is the Demon Slayer Master, and the second is the mini-boss Ninja Yoki.

The Box’s Guardian quest

If you enter the house, you will be see a revenant. You will see the prompt “Something Strange seeks Battle”. Accept the challenge? If you choose “Yes”, the instance will open. You will be summoned the Demon Slayer. The Box’s Guardian will ask you to defeat the Demon Slayer.

Three times I used the Demon of Pride at the beginning of the battle. The room is very small and the water orbs are exploding right next to your opponent. By the end of the ability, the boss will have lost about a third its health. This is good. This opponent is dangerous for close combat so I won’t get too close.

It’s better to use Ninja Tools when Demon Slayer doesn’t expect it. As long as I’m able to stay away, I use water shots to attack my enemies. Once they are gone, I summon Bloodedge Demon. After I have exhausted my first tab, I move to the second. The Demon of Envy is activated three times. The enemy is now on fire and will begin to suffer additional fire damage. Enenra is also here to do even more damage.

To make the final battle easier, I use all my magical abilities. As soon as my magic is gone, I switch over to regular kunai and fire shurikens. The enemy’s health is now gone, and you will see a message that says the master has been defeated. You’ll get the Archer’s Impact manual as a prize.

You can now collect your loot and complete the battle. Return to the room that started the battle. You can now examine the chest that is located in this room. It’s a stone vase. You’ll notice an Onmyo Mage at the entrance when you turn your back. The Onmyo Mage will then summon an One-eyed Oni, and a Ninja Yoki.

Ninja Yoki boss fight

You will have all of your magical powers restored and can easily defeat these enemies with fire magic. Use the Demon of Envy three times and then fire your powerful fire shots to see your enemies disappear into thin air. You’ll beat Ninja Yoki in this battle, even though he is the boss.

After a short conversation with the spirit you will receive a message indicating that “The Box’s Guard” quest in Nioh 3 is complete.
