After completing the Headaches Myth, you will be able to talk with Tokugawa Ieyasu on the top of Hamamatsu Castle. Ieyasu asks you to light a candle at a temple that has ties to Minamoto No Yoritomo. You’ll receive the quest item “Candle Dish,” and now you need to head to the new location I’m showing you on the map.

The Great Shogun of the Heian Era – Nioh 3 Onryoki boss fight

When you arrive, you’ll see that the entrance to the building is blocked by a black mist. As you get closer, the boss Onryoki will appear, and you’ll need to defeat this enemy. This is your first encounter with this boss. Most likely, this will happen early in the game, when you don’t yet have access to powerful skills and magic, so you’ll have to defeat this boss using standard methods. Onryoki isn’t difficult.

But if you’re having trouble with the boss, use my strategy. I moved to a safe distance and started throwing all the Ninja Tools I have at the enemy. I use shurikens, kunai, and Uncanny Bolt in this fight. After using up all my throwing weapons, I decided to activate my ultimate ability to deal as much damage as possible to the Onryoki boss. I jump and then press the heavy attack button. This simple combo deals a lot of damage to the enemy, especially if the strike lands from behind. By repeating this combo, the boss’s health bar couldn’t hold up and ran out.

Light a candle

The quest doesn’t end here. You need to go inside the building. Inside, you’ll see a hole in the floor. That’s the entrance to a secret cave. And as you’ve probably guessed, that’s exactly where you need to go. Jump down. Inside, you’ll see a passage leading to the light; head in that direction and turn left at the end. Here you’ll find a Traverse that will help you jump to the other side of the chasm. After climbing the stairs, you’ll find yourself in a room where you need to light a candle.

Speak with Tokugawa Ieyasu

After that, you need to return to where it all began: the top floor of Hamamatsu Castle. There, you need to speak with Tokugawa Ieyasu. Once you’ve spoken with him, the quest “The Great Shogun of the Heian Era” will be completed.
